In 1950, Leo Fender changed music forever with the Broadcaster — soon renamed the Telecaster after a trademark dispute. With its slab ash body, one-piece maple neck, and that iconic “blackguard” pickguard, it was the first truly mass-produced solid-body electric guitar.
Praised for its simplicity, durability, and biting tone, the Blackguard became the weapon of choice for country pickers, bluesmen, and rock ’n’ roll pioneers alike. From James Burton to Keith Richards, its twang and snarl defined entire genres.
This is more than just a guitar — it’s the blueprint of the modern electric, a piece of living history that still sets the standard today.
