The 1958 Korina Explorer is one of the most radical guitar designs ever unleashed by Gibson. With its futuristic angular body, crafted from rare Korina wood, the Explorer stood apart from anything else of its time. Initially produced in very small numbers, these originals are now among the most valuable and collectible guitars in existence.
Though it was too far ahead of its era in the late ’50s, the Explorer found its place decades later, shaping the sound of hard rock and metal in the hands of legends like The Edge, James Hetfield, and Allen Collins. Both a design icon and a tonal powerhouse, the ’58 Explorer remains a holy grail for collectors worldwide.
