The Gibson Moderne is one of the most mythical guitars ever conceived. Designed alongside the Flying V and Explorer in 1958 as part of Gibson’s “Modernistic” series, the Moderne pushed boundaries with its radical, futuristic body shape and Korina construction. Unlike its siblings, however, the Moderne never made it into full production — only a handful of prototypes were ever rumored to exist.
This aura of mystery has made the Moderne a true holy grail for collectors. Its unique curves, light Korina body, and legendary backstory place it at the crossroads of innovation and legend. More than a guitar, the Moderne is a symbol of what could have been — and one of Gibson’s rarest creations.
